Sepoy Rebellion!

The economic problems continued for the Indians, and their feelings of nationalism and resentment. In 1857, word spread through the Indian soldiers that the cartridges of their new rifles were sealed with beef and pork fat, and to use these cartridges the soldiers had to bite off the seal. Both Hindus, and muslims, who do not eat pork, where angered by the news! 85 of 90 the Indian Soldiers refused to use the new cartridges, the soldiers who disobeyed where jailed. the next day the Indian soldiers rebelled, fierce fighting took place. Both British soldiers and Indian soldiers tried to slaughter each others armies. The East India Company took more than a year to take over the country, the British sent troops to help them. The indians could not unite against the british, due to weak leadership and serious split between Hindus and Muslims.
